Jane Eyre comes to Annapolis

By Gavin Witt | Posted in Interviews, Staff Blogs, WBJC Programs | Comments Off on Jane Eyre comes to Annapolis

Classical Theatre of Maryland is back with another stage adaptation of a beloved literary classic, this time the world premiere of an original staging of Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre.

The production runs from February 8th through 25th, adapted by the creative duo of Laura Rocklyn and Sally Boyett (also the CTM Producing Artistic Director) and directed by veteran local theater-maker Donald Hicken.  Sally and Laura both joined me to share some of their thoughts on the process and the product.

With an ensemble of only 12, 10 of whom play all the roles other than the central couple of Jane and Rochester, the production looks to bring to life the manners and modes Bronte both captured and satirized in her landmark novel–while also embracing the mystery, the romance, and above all the intimately personal journey at the heart of the tale.
