I’d Be Like Cleopatterer…
If only Janet Stephens would do my hair! Ms. Stephens is a local hairstylist – she works at Studio 912 Salon and Day Spa. I’ve seen her (fabulous) contemporary work on the head of a friend and local singer, Janet Boynton Simons. The two women used to sing together in the Handel Choir of Baltimore, so they have a musical connection as well as a client-customer relationship. This morning, while checking my Facebook page, I saw that both my friend and the choir had posted the following article about Ms. Stephens:

What amazing work! Apparently Ms. Stephens’ fascination with ancient Roman and Greek hairstyles was inspired by a visit to Baltimore’s very own Walters Art Museum. Although I don’t know her personally, I have tremendous admiration for her craft and intelligence, especially the following quote:
“Whatever you’re most passionate about when you’re five is what you should do for the rest of your life,” says Ms. Stephens, 54 years old.
Indeed. And if I ever need a really, really retro updo for an event, I know who to call!
