What’s My Line?
No, really, what is it? It was in my head when I walked into rehearsal. So was the one before it, the one after it, the one… you get the idea. Where did they go?
As you may have guessed, I’m doing a show this summer. For years, I did mostly opera chorus & musical comedies, but at the moment, I’m preparing to play Lady Macbeth at Jewish Theatre Workshop. Jim is Banquo, which ought to be interesting once we’re in costumes & makeup – apparently his ghostly incarnation will be a bit gory. The production will have a Steampunk aesthetic (think fictionalized Victorian with sci-fi & fantasy elements) so we can’t wait to see the set.
Now, if I only had all of my lines down! We’ve officially been off book for two weeks, but have been allowed to call “line!” when stuck, at which point either our director or stage manager will feed us the missing words. As of next Monday, that’s done; if we “go up”, we have to improvise. Yes, Shakespeare. Guess who’s going to be spending a lot of time with her script this weekend?
“The Tragedy of Macbeth” is directed by Brad Norris & will run from August 9-19 at Jewish Theatre Workshop. For more information, click here: http://www.jewishtheatreworkshop.org
