Calling all runners – can you beat Beethoven?
As the wife of a serious runner, & being someone who does a bit of running myself, I had to share this event with you. The Reading Symphony Orchestra is about to enter its 100th anniversary season, & as a benefit, they’re presenting the first annual “Beat Beethoven!” 10K/5K run on Sunday, April 29th at 10am. Runners will have a chance to test their speed against that of the 120-member Reading Youth Symphony Orchestra; special awards will be given out to 5ker’s who finish before the first two movements of the symphony are finished as well as to those who complete the entire 10K before the piece is over. There’s also a 1-mile fun run/walk for kids or others who want to participate in a slightly different way. The registration fee includes a high-tech running shirt printed with the “Beat Beethoven!” logo & a goodie bag; there will be a post-race gathering with refreshments available. All race surfaces are macadam or groomed gravel & the course runs through the campus of Alvernia University in Reading, PA.
If you’d like to try to “Beat Beethoven!”, better hurry up, especially if you want to save a little money on the registration fee, which is $25 through April 13th, but you have until April 25th to sign up for the event.
