8-1-18 Word On Wine. The Long Awaited Cocktail series!
I am finally posting the long awaited series of four shows where Mary, Kati and I talk about the cocktails 101 article that Lisa Futterman wrote for the Chicago Tribune which was re-printed in the Sun. We had a blast recreating the drinks.
Episode 1)Three Partners catagory…eg. Martinis, Manhattans or Negronis. We made the ‘Old Pal’ or a Boulvardier. 1 oz dry vermouth, 1 0z rye and 1 oz campari. Garnish with Orange Rind.
Episode 2)The Old Fashioned/Lowball family. Our drink was called the Hanky-panky. 2 ounces gin, 2 ounces Italian sweet vermouth, 1/4 ounce Fernet Branca.
Episode 3)Fizz or Collins. We made The Gin Buck! 1 1/2 ounces gin, 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice, Ginger ale or ginger beer.
Add gin and lemon juice to an ice-filled glass. Top with ginger beer and garnish with lemon wedge. Serve at once.
Episode 4)Sours! My personal favorite…we made a version of the Daiquiri! Ours used Goslings Black Seal Rum which gave the drink a beautiful apricot color!
Hope you enjoyed the series here is the original article from the Tribune! Thanks Lisa!
