The ways of our world
As part of the Women’s Voices Theater Festival in the nation’s capital region — chaired by Allison Janney — Theresa Rebeck has written and directed an adaptation of the Restoration comedy The Way of the World by William Congreve. She transports the action to the Hamptons, and takes a satirical swipe at the wealthy 1%. Though I didn’t find that the ending quite lived up to the highly entertaining sum of the play’s parts, it is a rollicking production, executed by a uniformly excellent cast. It’s on at the Folger Theatre on D.C.’s East Capitol Street until February 11th.
