10-22-16 Word On Wine Our Wine Stories!
This week Mary and I take a little time and talk about our personal connections and history with wine. Mine started out with my father insisting that while we would use kosher wine for blessings we would serve the wines of the world for Sabbath dinner! Wine became a geography lesson! During my high school years my father was inspired by his life long friend and arch rival Nat Gorby to make wine. Nat was making wine and my dad was determined to make better wine! He made about 200 bottles a year! Sadly it’s all gone now. Ironically when my father passed away in 2001 it was his arch rival and life long friend Nat who helped us bottle his final vintage!
Mary did not grow up drinking wine but the gin martini (gin with a few olives) was not unknown. Though wine was not a part of her upbringing great food and cooking was. This must have been inherited as she too is a fabulous cook. After graduating from Library science school Mary decided to pursue a career in the wine business and starting working at the Wine Source. She obviously learned a lot!
We have been doing Word on Wine together for the last eight years! It’s been a great journey…here are our respective shows…please feel free to share yours!
