10-19-15 Word On Wine Go Cotes de Gascoigne!
It’s been ages since Mary and I had a chance to sample some wine together! Work gets in the way of so many important things. I bought a couple of whites from the Cotes de Gascoigne and we couldn’t have been happier. Both of these wines were made from a combination of Gros Manseng, Colombard and Uni Blanc and both were well under $10. In fact if I remember correctly you could pick these up for around $8 if you buy a case.
1)2014 Domaine de Cassagnole. Cotes De Gascoigne. $9. Had some good zip and more than enough fruit to balance it out. This was a Peter Weygandt offering and for whatever reason Mary and I often have good luck with his choices. That’s probably because he seems to know what he’s doing. BTW I have never met Mr. Weygandt nor am I related to him! I have bought lots of his bottles with nice results!
2)2014 Domaine De Pouy. $9. This wasn’t quite as defined as the previous wine but it was also lovely. In fact we’ve been enjoying it for several days now! This was a Robert Kacher Selection and frankly you can buy either of these with your eyes closed.
Here is our show…Enjoy!
