9/05/15 – Vocalise Rundown
8:00 PM
Listen to my whacky pronunciation of “Goliard!” The Goliards were those wild and crazy clergymen, poets and rabble-rousers from the 12th and 13th centuries whose texts inspired Carl Orff to compose “Carmina Burana.” After recording Vocalise, I realized that I had pronounced Goliard the way I remembered my mother pronouncing it when I was a child. Gol-lurd instead of Gol-yerd. Whoops! From the bottom of my heart I am grateful to my mother for the early exposure to classical music and some “interesting” pronunciations! 😀
