9-3-15 Word On Wine Summer Cocktails Revisited!
This week we are rerunning a show from 2013 where we used some cocktails from Bon Appetit, Food And Wine and The New York Times. These are too nice not to look at again and I have transcribed the recipes! I am definitely going to try these…if you aren’t sure where to get some of the more obscure ingredients your local good wine shop is usually the place.
1)Rose Sangria. 8 servings
1 bottle chilled dry Spanish Rose
1/2 cup Orange Liquor
1 cup Fresh Orange Juice
2 tbs Lime Juice
1 Orange Unpeeled Cut Into Rounds
4 Apricots, Pitted And Cut Into 1/8ths
1 Pint Raspberries.
Combine all ingredients and add ice.
2)My Clementine! 8 Cocktails
14 oz. Vodka
12 oz. Fresh Clementine Juice
6 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
6 oz. Aperol
4 oz. Light Agave Nectar
Soda to taste and Ice. Serve Shaken Or Stirred!
3)New York Sour 1 Cocktail
2 oz. Rye Or Bourbon (I would use Canadian Whiskey..eg…Crown Royal!)
1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz. Simple Syrup
Empty all ingredients into shaker, add ice and shake till frosty. Using strainer pour into rocks glass. Using the back of a spoon float a half oz. red wine (Shiraz or something big and fruity) over the cocktail. Should look like a sunset!
4)Amante Picante Margarita 8 cocktails
1/2 Large Seedless English Cucumber
1/2 Medium Jalapeno
1/4 Cup Cilantro Chopped
18 oz. Tequila
8 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
6 oz. Light Agave Nectar
Celery Bitters
Lime Wedge…Kosher Salt…ice.
Muddle Cucumber, Jalapeno, and Cilantro. Add remaining liquid ingredients, mix in a large container! Strain and pour into Margarita or rocks glasses with ice.
I am going to try these…Sounds like an adventure…if you give this a shot let us know how it works out. Here is our show…Enjoy.
