8-22-15 Music In Maryland Hilary II
This week I am live in the studio and we are doing fun things. We are celebrating Hilary Hahn’s excellent recordings for a couple of reasons. First it’s Leonard Bernstein’s birthday on 8/25 so we are playing her recording of the Serenade. I remember when she performed it in Baltimore because I wrote the review for the Baltimore Sun! We are also presenting her recording of the Jennifer Higdon violin concerto because Ms. Higdon’s first opera Cold Mountain was just premiered in Santa Fe. We are playing a recording featuring Lukasz Kurapaczewski because he is coming to perform with Baltimore Classical Guitar Society this season and we continue to celebrate the Baltimore Symphony’s centennial with some Gershwin featuring Marin Also and Jean Yves Thibaudet.
