Getting away to it all
I’m not one to sit around on vacation. I love my job, but it does entail spending most of my workday in a small room with a bunch of electronics, & I’m a pretty sociable person, & not very sedentary, so when I leave town for a few days, I need to be somewhere with plenty to do.
Naturally, as the 1970’s tourism slogan goes, I love New York. When we vacation there, Jim claims I draw energy from the sidewalks of Manhattan & put even his (ultramarathoner’s!) stamina to shame. The city offers such an abundance of things we love: arts, dining, architecture, shopping… who needs to sleep? We can do that on the train ride home.
We’re getting a New York “fix” in February & can’t wait. At this point, we plan to see Verdi’s “Ernani” at the Met, eat great food, hang out with friends, & hit at least one flea market. A museum outing may also be on the agenda, as will (weather permitting) some nice, long runs through the streets of Manhattan. If you have favorite New York haunts, feel free to post them here!
