6-23-14 Word On Wine Review 2 Old Style Bordeaux
This week we sample two wines from Bordeaux that I had the privilege trying earlier this year. I decided it was time to explore Bordeaux and ended up spending a bit of time and money in the Haut Medoc! These two classic high shouldered bottles had a lot to offer…check them both out you won’t be sorry.
1)2005 Chateau Senejac. Haut Medoc. $30. Boredaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot…Truthfully I forgot the Cepage. (Shoot me!) This was a beautiful old world style wine that had great structure and tannins. 2005 was a rather tight vintage so a great idea is to open this a few hours earlier than you plan to drink it…or let it sit for a few more years! (The former is my preference) A great wine with dinner…a piece of history.
2006 Chateau Cantemerle. Haut Medoc. $25. This was a little less austere than the Senejac having a little more heft and fruit. This Bordeaux had a nice finish and great memories…a classic and a pleasure.
First check out our show and then pay a visit to the Bordeaux section of your local wine store.
