Local storytellers of all sorts take the stage for the second annual Baltimore Story Fest, running May 1-4 at Baltimore Theatre Project and in a special Mother’s Day-themed feature May 10 at Howard County Center for the Arts.

The now-annual showcase of storytelling talent–featuring an array of styles, a range of perspectives, and a broad sampling of tellers and their tales–has been curated by overall producer Phill Branch, who joined me in the studio to talk about how he selects the lineup, the original impulse for the Fest, and the enduring impact and appeal of storytelling at its rawest and simplest.
