2-23-19 Music in Maryland…Some music and musicians that are visiting us soon
This week the BSO is playing the Elgar Cello Concerto . I thought it would be nice to hear the classic 1965 recording with Jacqueline Dupre and Sir John Barbirolli. Also on this weekend’s program is the Debussy Rondes de Printemps which is the third Image from the Image for Orchestra by Debussy. I also threw in the first of the set Gigues. Two weeks from now the orchestra will be performing 2 versions of Scheherazade, one by Rimsky Korsakov and the other by John Adams. Leila Josefowicz is the violin soloist in the Adams and we have her playing a Grieg Sonata. I picked former BSO Music Director Yuri Temirkanov’s Scheherazade recording with the New York Philharmonic for the Rimsky Korsakov.
