2-16-19 Music in Maryland. Parker Quartet.
This week we are airing a Candlelight Concert from October of 2017 that commemorated the centennial of the Soviet Revolution. The Parker Quartet performed Stravinsky’s Concertino and 3 Pieces for String Quartet, Prokofiev’s 2nd Quartet and Shostakovich’s Third. To fill I used Marin Alsop’s recording of Prokofiev’s Sixth Symphony (a masterpiece we rarely hear) which will be performed by the BSO next week.
