9-12-16 Word On Wine The last Rose of Summer!
This week Mary and I reviewed two wines that are nice for the end of Summer. Now that it’s just about finished I am completely nostalgic for the Summer and wish I had it back…oh well there’s always next year. These wines will help ease you into Fall!
1)Protea Rose. South Africa $15. 63% Mouvedre. 20% Shiraz. 16% Cinsault. 1% Grenache! It’s the Grenache that does it! Nice acid and very drinkable. To the Deck with you!
2)2015 Maison Darragon Vouvray Sec! Our bottle said dry right on it and indeed it was. Vouvray is available in so many styles as the Chenin Blanc grape can do just about anything. I liked this more than Mary did but Chenin is always welcome at Word On Wine.
