7-9-16 Music In Maryland National Orchestral Institute
This week we are featuring a new Naxos CD with the National Orchestral Institute Philharmonic. This excellent program takes place at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center and is its 29th year. It is a chance for talented music students from all over the US and abroad to make music together over a four week period. Naxos has just released it’s first recording with the orchestra and we are presenting a couple of selections on Music in Maryland.
Speaking of talented music students we are also presenting a recording of the Peabody Honors Ensemble Trio Phoenix playing the Dvorak Dumky Trio. This was recorded on December 10, 2015. The trio is made up of violinist Alan Choo, cellist Tzu-Jou Yeh and pianist Akkra Yeunyonghattaporn. To round out the show we aired a couple of vintage BSO recordings featuring Sergiu Comissiona.
