1-17-15 Music in Maryland, Candlelight Concert Society, Dover String Quartet
This week Music in Maryland features a concert with the Dover String Quartet recorded as part of the Candlelight Concert Society in Columbia Maryland. The concert was recorded in Smith Theatre, Howard Community College October 5, 2013. On the program…Haydn’s op. 76 # 4, ‘Sunrise’. The World Premiere of Eric Sessler’s String Quartet. Shostakovich: String Quartet # 3 op. 73 and the slow movement from Beethoven’s op. 135 as an encore. As filler we used the Baltimore Symphony’s recording of Barber’s Symphony # 1.
Candlelight Concert Society is doing their usual bang up job this season. Next Saturday 1/24 they are presenting The Aizuri Quartet, Curtis Institute’s 2014-15 String Quartet-in-residence, performs with esteemed cellist Peter Wiley, former member of the Beaux Arts Trio and Guarneri Quartet.
