This weekend, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will present the world premiere of Baltimore-based composer Jonathan Leshnoff’s Guitar Concerto. The piece was commissioned by Music Director Marin Alsop and the BSO; Manuel Barrueco will be the soloist. Earlier this week, I spoke with Jonathan Leshnoff about the new work, his creative process, and Mr. Barrueco’s very active role in helping the piece come to fruition.
The BSO’s world premiere performances of Jonathan Leshnoff’s Guitar Concerto will take place tonight, Thursday, January 9th at 8pm and this Sunday, January 12th at 3pm at the Meyerhoff. More information is available at bsomusic.org or 410-783-8000.
