8-4-14 Word On Wine Review…Bulgaria!
When I think of Bulgaria I think of great opera singers, some very nice people I’ve met over the years and truthfully not much else! In terms of wine Bulgaria was like all the other Soviet block countries…All about quantity! The various government wine collectives produced endless amounts of mediocre wine to satisfy their Soviet overlords. Well those days are over! With the arrival of quality wine makers and wine making, Bulgaria, like most other countries in the world, is producing some very serviceable table wines at reasonable prices. The wines I tried were made by Bulgariana and were quite nice. Try the Thracian White Blend or the Sauvignon Blanc. On the red side the Imperial Red Blend was extremely nice!
