4-21-14 Word On Wine 2 Aussies!
This week Word On Wine is from Down Under and we are from the east and west of the country. Mary and I actually tasted these wines together at our home grown wine tasting event!
1)2012 Frisk Prickly Riesling! $10. Victoria, Australia! What could be bad about this? Simple elegant inexpensive slightly sweet and slightly sparkling. Buy with your eyes closed.
2)2012 Cape Mentelle Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon. Cape Mentelle is at the extreme south west of Australia…making it pretty darn southwest! It was a thrill to taste wine from somewhere so remote. We were expecting this to be opulent and it was lean! When we opened it a bit too lean though it did mellow!
