8-5-13 Word On Wine Review Montefalco 1!
This week Maria Zajac and I taste wines from Montefalco. Where is Montefalco you ask…It’s near Peruggia! A better way to put it would be to say that it’s in Umbria. If you haven’t been, like so many other places in Bella Italia…It’s Gorgeous.
We reviewed two wines we loved the white, but weren’t crazy about the red.
1)2012 Grecante Grechetto. The producer was Arnaldo Caprai. $15. We loved this wine to death. It had a bit of salty minerality and great acid. A nice change from the usual whites. Buy with your eyes closed! Kati and I had this for lunch (Warm!) a day later and still loved it.
2012 Montefalco Rosso. The producer was Antoneli. $20. This was a blend of 65% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 10% Cab and 10% Merlot. This wine started off great but fell off at the back end. This wine actually improved a day later and smoothed out a bit. Try it for yourself…who knows. Check out the show by clicking below!
