1-7-13 Word on Wine Review…GREECE!!!!!!!!!
This week Mary and I review two wines from Greece, Something we never have done before.
1)2011 Adoli Ghis (Meaning Unruly Earth!) from Antonopoulos Vineyards. $15. This was a blend of three white Greek varietals and this resulted in a very nice long and lean wine. If all the Greek wine you have ever had is Retsina…imagine something completely different! Mary tried it with Mussels…Sounds like a great wine to take to Corner BYOB on a Monday night.
2)2007 Agiorgitiko (aka Saint George grape) from Mitravelas Estate in Nemea. Think CDR Village and you are right on the money. A good solid well made wine from an area of Greece known as Little Burgundy. Considering that Greeks have been making wine for as long as civilization has been around we should be drinking more of them. I know I plan to explore more Greek wine in 2013.
Check out our show,
Cheers and Happy New Year.
