5/21/12 Word on Wine Review! Georgia On Our Minds!
This week Mary and I are Marching Through Georgia…Not that Georgia…the other one! In fact we tasted two wines made 2 hours east of Tbilisi! These wines were made by Chelti Estates and I’m sure they have been making wine for ever! The grape in both of these cases was Saperavi a local variety and both of these wines cost $15.
1)2008 Chelti Estates, Gunachauri. Grown in clay soil, wild and wooly. This is not for the faint of heart. Highly extracted and very intense.
2)2007 Chelti Estates. Grown in stone and gravel. This was a kinder and gentler red table wine! Definitely worth trying as an alternative to whatever you usually buy!
