The old city center of Warsaw, completely destroyed in World War II, was lovingly rebuilt to the original plans, thereby preserving the heritage of freedom loving citizens. Highlights of Warsaw include the Ghetto Memorial, the Chopin Memorial in Lazienki Park and the Soviet - built Palace of Culture, so grotesque that it has endeared itself to the local population.
